With the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Note S9 Plus, Samsung has released their latest and greatest big-screened flagship phone to date. The bigger screen and bigger battery make the Note S9 Plus, significantly more expensive than any of its predecessors, sticking with the trending theme in smartphones, the bigger phone with more features is naturally going to retail a higher price.

Performance and Battery Life

With the bump in performance of the Samsung Galaxy Note S9 Plus, it only goes to say that without an improvement in the battery department, the Galaxy Note S9 Plus is not going to surpass those coming before it. The increased performance levels showing a definite toll on battery life when compared to previous models.

Performance wise, the Samsung galaxy Note S9 Plus is virtually in a league of its own, rivaled only Apple’s iPhone 8. UK customers can expect their devices to be run on Samsung’s own octa-core 2.7 GHz Exynos 9810 processor, while their US counterparts (and those in other territories) will find the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 power Galaxy Note S9 Plus. 4GB of RAM for usage, and 128GB for on-board storage, expandable up to 400GB with a microSD, should make for a smooth-running Note S9 Plus experience.


The Samsung Galaxy Note S9 Plus boasts a bold, plus-sized display, measuring in at 6.2-inches from rounded corner to rounded corner. It really does make a bold statement. Both the top and bottom bezel on the front of the Note S9 Plus have been reduced ever so slightly when compared to those of the S8 Plus, however, the Galaxy Note S9 Plus has not done too much in the way of something new.

Admittedly the Note S9 Plus is much the same as the year before in terms of its display specs. The Note S9 Plus still reaping the benefits of Samsung’s super AMOLED technology, delivering perfect contrast levels, and world-class image quality.


Although dual-camera arrangements are not uncommon, the Samsung Galaxy Note S9 Plus is Samsung’s first flagship phone in the S range to boast these qualities. Similar to the Note 8, the two camera use their differences to make the magic happen. One of the cameras being a wide-angle, 12-megapixel, f/1.5 camera (the widest aperture ever seen on a smartphone), while the second has a f/2.4 telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom. On top of that, the Galaxy Note S9 Plus also features a two position aperture that can be alternated between f/1.5 and f/2.4, to capture the absolute best lighting conditions.

Images captured by the Galaxy Note S9 Plus are clean and clear, displaying sharper detail in pictures, while the HDR system does great work lighting up darkened or shady areas. Even more than that, the galaxy Note S9 Plus features a 960fps slo-motion mode, allowing you to extend a 0.2 second, 720p video, into a six second video piece. More than just for pics and videos, the Galaxy Note S9 Plus will help you create and animate your very own avatar using the AR Emoji function. With all these features and added performance factors, the Samsung Galaxy Note S9 Plus does not come cheap, and customers can expect to pick one up for around $900 sim-free.

There are many features that are present in the Samsung Galaxy Note S9 Plus, some a little more impressive than others. The low-light photography is something that can be improved upon, not to mention the battery life. It’s not bad, but it could be better.
